歸納總結(jié)

過去進行時常用“was / were + v.-ing”形式來表示過去某一時刻或某一段時間正在進行的動作。過去進行時可與表示過去的時間狀語如at 8:00 last night、at that time、at this time last Monday、from 8:00 to 11:00 yesterday morning等連用，也可與when或while引導的時間狀語從句連用。例如：

She was scared because a man was following her at that time. 她很害怕，因為當時有一個男士在跟蹤她。

—Was it raining at six this morning? 今天早上6點下雨了嗎?

—Yes, it was. / No, it wasn’t. 是的，下雨了。/ 不，沒有下。

注意事項

◆ 過去進行時強調(diào)在過去某一時刻或某一段時間正在進行的動作，強調(diào)在這一過程中動作的進程和發(fā)展;一般過去時則表示在過去某個時間發(fā)生過的動作或存在的狀態(tài)。例如：

He was doing his homework all the afternoon. 整個下午他在做作業(yè)。

He did his homework in the afternoon. 下午他做完了作業(yè)。

◆ 有些動詞通常不用于過去進行時，如like、love、hate等表示心理狀態(tài)的動詞，appear、seem等表示表象的動詞，see、feel、sound等感官動詞，allow、decide、end等短暫性動詞。

語篇演練

閱讀短文，用括號中所給單詞的適當形式填空。

A traffic accident happened on the road near a restaurant. However, the car driver drove off. A policeman arrived at the place, and he had to ask the people who saw the accident some questions.

“What were you 1 (do) when the accident happened?” asked the policeman.

“Oh, I 2 (buy) some water in the shop, so I didn’t know what happened,” a man answered.

“I 3 (stand) near the restaurant, and I saw the car number. It was 1041 ZK 01,” said a young woman.

Then some other people answered the policeman’s questions. An old man 4 (cross) the road. He wasn’t far away from the car, but he couldn’t see it clearly.
